At the beginning of this month, the Faculty welcomed its newest member, Cristina Longo. Cristina will be working alongside Iren as HR Administrator to support the HR activities of the Faculty.
Prior to joining McGill, Cristina worked primarily in the private sector specialising in recruitment and general human resources administration. She has spent the last four years leading a HR Department for Montreal-based CPA Firm FL Fuller Landau. As their main HR Advisor she led many recruitment activities (including campus-related recruitment initiatives to attract aspiring CPA students), as well as implemented HR technologies aimed at increasing operational efficiencies related to talent management, performance management and employee satisfaction & engagement. Prior to this, she worked for Cirque du Soleil and Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC), always in HR. She also worked part-time during her university studies at Concordia University in Academic Affairs for the Dean’s Office, Faculty of Arts.
Cristina graduated from John Molson School Business’ Cooperative Education program in 2011 and hold a Bachelor of Commerce Degree majoring in Human Resources Management. She is a member of the L’Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agrées and is certified as a Human Resources Professional (CHRP).
What are some of the challenges you will face in your new position?
Some of the challenges in my new role will involve learning and adapting to McGill’s strong organizational culture, as well as their human resources practices for both academic and non-academic functions, especially related to the various collective agreements in place. I hope to contribute to the Faculty of Dentistry’s HR Department in a positive and team-oriented way by bringing in my multi-faceted HR experience to help maintain and support current HR practices. I will spend the next couple of months getting to know the various operations of the Faculty, and as well as building relationship with the people!
What would you like people to know about you?
I have a passion for travelling; am a huge dog-lover ( owner of a 10-year old miniature poodle) , and a yoga-enthusiast.
Please join me in welcoming Cristina to the Faculty!
